Air quality
The platform has expertise in modeling the atmospheric transport of contaminants by retrotrajectories and modeling chemical transport, in particular by GEOS-Chem. Backtrajectory calculations can be used to identify sources of air pollution upstream of a site. Chemical transport modeling is useful for simulating the concentrations and properties of air pollutants, especially in circumstances where measurements are not available. It is also useful for studying emissions scenarios, for example reductions in vehicular emissions, in order to see the effects on air quality.
