Organic contaminants
The platform is equipped with three high-performance mass spectrometers for the analyzes of historical organic contaminants (e.g. pesticides or drugs) or contaminants of emerging interest (e.g. cyanotoxins or PFAS). Depending on the contaminants, separation by liquid chromatography or gas chromatography can be used in combination with either tandem mass spectrometry (TSQ Quantiva Triple Quadrupole) or one of two high resolution mass spectrometers (QE Orbitrap for LC and Exploris 240 GC Orbitrap). Orbitrap systems also allow non-targeted analysis, which we have developed particularly for PFAS, but also for some pesticides and cyanotoxins. Analysis requests can include preparation steps, either solid phase extraction (SPE) for samples in water, or using solvents, ultrasound and cleaning cartridges for solid samples.
